International Olympic Committee (IOC)
Barbara was elected to the International Olympic Committee for 12 years (2005 - 2016) She was one of just 115 members volunteering their time to govern the Global Olympic Movement including electing host cities for future games, deciding the sports program and helping distribute $3.25 million dollars every day back to sport around the world. She represented Athletes, Woman, New Zealand and Oceania's voice on 5 different commissions and working groups including Athletes , Sustainability and Legacy, Woman, Communication and World Anti Doping Commissions.

New Zealand Olympic cOmmittee (NZOC)
Barbara spent 20 years on the NZOC Athlete's commission (1996 - 2016) driving change within the organisation to have athletes input in all decision making. In 2005 - 2016 she joined the NZOC Executive board further ensuring these changes were implemented

international sURFING Association (ISA)
Barbara currently is a Vice President on the International Surfing Association. She has been an integral part of the campaign to include Surfing into the Olympic programme for Tokyo 2020.

oCEANIA nATIONAL Olympic cOMMITTEES(ONOC)
As the chair of the Oceania Athletes Commission for 12 years (2005 - 2017) Barbara helped developed and empowering active athlete commissions in all 17 countries of Oceania as well as organising and facilitating an Oceania Athletes forum every two years. Barbara led the development of a partnership between ONOC and NGO's to promote education throughout the region on key social and environmental issues, Today more than 4000 athletes have been through the program known as "Voices of the Athletes" that calls for athletes to be a leader, play true, play safe go green, stay active This program is now delivered at all major games in Oceania.

Association of nATIONAL Olympic cOMMITTEES(ANOC)
ANOC is made up of the 206 National Olympic Countries around the world Which are divided up into 5 continents - Europe, Africa, Asia, America's and Oceania. Barbara was the first ever chair of the ANOC athletes commission )2103 - 2018) made up from representatives from each Continent. Together they created a Tool kit and best practice guide and templates from Athletes Commission around the world and succeeded ensuring forums for athletes in each continent now occur every 2 years.

One of Barbara’s most significant contributions to the IOC has been in the development of the IOC Athletes’ Career + Program and the leadership of its pilot program in the Oceania region. The program assists and educates in leadership, high performance, life skills, education and job placement. Over the past decade, Barbara worked with more than 2000 athletes, coaches and managers. She is currently the Global Master Trainer for the Career + program. Around the world, more than 40,000 athletes have benefited from the Athletes’ Career Program. |
